Pamela's Adventures with Hands (Raven's Lair Bedtime Stories)

I have been working in a nail salon for 22 years. I love hands, you see, hands are like fingerprints - no two pairs are exactly alike. They come in different sizes, shapes, lengths and colors. And they can tell a lot about a person's character, mood and preferences. For example, some people have very delicate hands that match their gentle nature. Others have strong hands that show their confidence and determination. Some have long fingers that make their nails look elegant and sophisticated. Others have short fingers that give them a cute and playful look.
I love seeing how different hands can transform with a manicure. Sometimes I get surprised by how a certain color or design can suit someone's hands so well, even if it's not what they usually go for. Sometimes I get challenged by finding the best way to enhance someone's natural beauty or hide some flaws. Sometimes I get inspired by seeing how creative some people are with their nails.
One of the most interesting cases for me is when someone's hands don't match their appearance at all. For instance, once I had a client who was very petite and slim, but she had huge hands. She looked like she could crush anything with her grip, but she was actually very sweet and soft-spoken. She told me she loved her hands because they made her feel powerful and unique. When I saw those big, large paws, my first thought was "Oh boy! What am I going to do here?" But as soon as we started talking about nail polish colors and designs, I felt much more confident. It turns out that this lady has an amazing sense of humor; she loves puns, jokes and riddles, especially ones related to body parts. She even joked about having big hands during our entire appointment. Even mentioned looking at a website dedicated to big hands, (Raven's Lair ??) After painting her nails, I asked her what kind of design she wanted on them. Without any hesitation, she said: 'Bigger!' So I painted these words across each finger using black acrylic paint. The result was awesome - her hands were transformed into something bigger than life itself. This woman never ceases to surprise me.
She came back about a month later. We talked again while getting ready for another session. During the conversation, she mentioned that she often gets compliments from other women regarding her hands. She said recently a customer of hers was staring at her hands and whispered loudly enough for everyone else to hear him say: "With hands like those You're doing you're the wrong job!" To which she replied without missing a beat: 'Actually, I'm a professional dominatrix.' Everyone burst out laughing.
Unfortunately, I haven't been graced by her presence since then. But whenever I think about her, I smile. Her personality was so vibrant and fun loving, it makes me happy just thinking about her.
As always, I hope you enjoyed reading my stories. Until next time...
Pamela
